Our Values

Text Box: Compassion
The word compassion comes from Latin and means "to bear with" or "to suffer with." Compassion and empathy are essential human qualities that allow one to feel, understand, and respond to the suffering of others. They enable individuals to enter into and maintain relationships of caring. (Encyclopedia of Death and Dying)

Knowledge
The more knowledge we gain regarding care at the end of life the more miraculous and mysterious the dying process proves itself. Our organization strives to share the gifts of knowledge and understanding we have gained from expert clinicians and our patients to provide hope and alleviate suffering and fear at the time of death for patients and their families.
Life
Directives values and cherishes life. This is why we are dedicated to the improvement of the quality of life to the moment of death. By helping clinicians’ and families understand the value of excellent spiritual care, emotional support, symptom control, and open communication at the end of life we can improve the quality of life for patients and those they love.
Mercy
Mercy is where compassion and justice meet action. Directives will work to advocate for high quality, compassionate care for all members of society at the end of life, locally, and internationally.

Service
A life dedicated to giving and working with the purpose of serving something greater than ourselves is a path that decidedly leads to fulfillment, peace, and contentment while leaving the world better than when we started.
